A combined lifestyle intervention(GLI) is a program for people who are overweight or obese. A GLI helps people change behavior.

The GLI is a combination of treatments focused on healthier diet and eating habits, increased exercise and possibly individual psychological treatment to support behavior change.

How do you qualify for GLI?
Not everyone who is overweight is eligible for a GLI. The following insureds may receive a GLI: Insured persons with a BMI between 25 and 30 combined with a large abdominal circumference (≥ 88 cm for women; ≥ 102 cm for men).
Who pays for GLI?
The combined lifestyle intervention (GLI (Combined Lifestyle Intervention)) has been reimbursed from the basic insurance under conditions since 2019 and is not at the expense of the deductible.
What does the GLI pathway entail?
The GLI focuses on behavior change to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. A GLI lasts for 2 years. A GLI consists of group meetings and individual counseling by health care providers. The number of group meetings and individual counseling sessions varies by program.
